Richard L. Crosby III — Cincinnati, Ohio
Why This
Scholarship Exists
Richard L. Crosby III spent years as one of Ohio’s top criminal defense attorneys — recognized among the state’s Top 100, making partner at a prominent firm, and later running as a candidate for U.S. Representative for Ohio’s 2nd Congressional District. He argued for the rights and freedom of others across hundreds of cases.
Today, Richard channels that experience into building — through the Comma Foundation, his nonprofit advancing affordable housing, eviction prevention, and reentry services, and through ventures under the RC3 Group. The Richard L. Crosby Scholarship extends that same mission directly to students: supporting the sons and daughters of the officers who serve on the front lines of the justice system, and the young people whose families have lived through what’s on the other side of it.
We don’t see these as two separate worlds. A household built around service and a household that’s weathered its hardest chapter often arrive at the same understanding of responsibility, consequence, and community — and this scholarship is built on the belief that students from both backgrounds can stand together, not apart, in the work of changing the systems that shaped them.
